Our leather shoes play a central role in our everyday lives and above all stand for durability, sustainability and comfort. In order to maintain these properties in the long term, high-quality materials such as nappa, leather and suede require regular and special care. With simple care tips, you can ensure that your shoes not only look good, but also last a long time.
Here are some tips on how to properly care for chrome-free tanned leather shoes.
- Nappa : Dust the shoes with a dry cotton cloth and polish them to maintain their shine. A colorless, natural shoe polish can also help with this. Tip: Use a soft sponge and apply a little colorless natural cream, such as leather grease or beeswax, evenly to the cleaned shoes. After 15 minutes, polish the shoes with a soft leather brush or cloth.
- Oiled leather : Often used for more robust shoes such as hiking boots or winter boots. We recommend using a brush and special leather grease, which you can ideally buy from where you bought the shoes. Tip: Natural fats such as leather grease or waxes offer the best care.
- Combination of leather and fabric: Shoes made of both leather and fabric require special attention. To protect both materials, we recommend a waterproofing spray that protects against moisture and dirt without affecting the breathability of the fabric or the flexibility of the leather.
It is important to use chemical-free care products, as vegetable-tanned leather can react sensitively to chemical substances and thus lose quality. In addition, the leather can darken slightly when fats or waxes are used.
